Dr Jelena Zarkovic is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, Serbia and director at one of the leading think tanks in Serbia, the Foundation for the Advancement in Economics.
Her main research interests are the labour markets, poverty and income inequality effects of tax and benefit policies. She has been involved as a project coordinator and/or researcher in a number of projects financed by the European Union, World Bank, Department for International Development, UK, and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. Jelena held courses to civil servants of the Government of Serbia on the preparation of public policy proposals and evaluation of public policies. She participated in a number of congresses, seminars and workshops in Serbia and abroad and published articles in journals like Cambridge Journal of Economics, Economics of Transition, Post-Communist Economies, International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations and International Journal of Micro-simulation. Jelena speaks English, French and Italian.
Dr Djordje Mitrovic was born in 1976 in Valјevo. He received his bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade. At the same faculty, as an associate professor, he teaches the following courses at undergraduate studies: Principles of Economics and Economics of Transition, as well as the courses at the graduate studies: Transitional Processes and Economic Policy.
His scientific research interest focuses on macroeconomics, the processes of transition and globalization, the role of institutions in the economy, the role of information and communication technologies in the economy, methods and ways of measuring technological diffusion and digital divide, circular economy.
He has authored two books and a number of articles in domestic and international journals in the field of transition, globalization and political economy of the information society. He is also the author of two textbooks for high schools of economics.
In the period 2006-2009, he attended professional training at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis in France. At the same University in the period 2013/14, he pursued postdoctoral studies in which he engaged in research in the field of technological diffusion and digital divide.
Since October 2015, he has been the Director of the Publishing Centre of the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade.
Nemanja Vuksanovic enrolled PhD studies in October 2015 at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade, majoring in Economics. He works at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade since 2014, performing exercises on the following subjects: Introduction to economics and Modern Economic Systems. The main areas of interest and research: Economics of Education, Labour Economics, and Institutional Economics. Since 2016 he is a research fellow at the Foundation for the Advancement of Economics. Also, he is a member of the Society for Institutional and organizational economics. He has been involved in a number of research projects financed by the Ministry of education, science and technology of Republic of Serbia, and different EU organizations. Many of these projects covered areas such as relation between education and employment, labour and education policy making process, and youth and social inclusion issues. He has scientific and applied research experience in data analysis and evidence based policy making regarding education system reform and youth. The most relevant projects are: (1) Development of policy recommendations in the area of education based on open data and research findings (Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and MoESTD, Junior expert), (2) 2018 Joint Eurydice – OECD Data Collection on Salaries of Teachers and School Heads (Erasmus +, Junior Expert), (3) Interdisciplinary short cycle programs in public policy making and analysis (Erasmus + KA 2, Junior Expert). Primary areas of methodological experience/expertise are literature review, case studies, and complex quantitative data collection and anaysis techiques.
